Cape Symphony

The Cape Symphony has long offered the people of Cape Cod the opportunity to experience rich symphonic and orchestral performances. This season, the symphony says farewell to executive director, Jerome Karter, who has been with the symphony for nine years. Despite parting ways with a beloved director, the symphony carries on full steam ahead for the summer season. On June 20, come to the Cape Cod Melody Tent at 8 p.m. for a night of Broadway favorites. On August 22, join the symphony for the 26th annual Pops in the Park with Jung-Ho Pak, the artistic director and conductor of the symphony. The concert starts at 7 p.m. at Eldredge Park in Orleans. Provincetown Jazz Festival

Musicians from all around the globe take part in the Provincetown Jazz Festival. The 11th annual  event begins Thursday, August 13, at a new locale, the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown, at 7 p.m. Dane Vannatter, jazz vocalist, headlines; Tish Adams, vocalist from Providence, opens. The Cape Cod Jazz Quintet backs both performances. The festival moves Monday, August 17 to the Cotuit Center for the Arts. Kate McGarry, a Cape native and Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist, performs along with Keith Ganz on guitar and Fabiano de Castro, a jazz pianist from Brazil. A portion of the proceeds will help fund merit scholarships for jazz students in the Cape Cod Conservatory CJazz program. For more information, visit provincetownjazzfestival.org.

Outer Cape Chorale

The Outer Cape Chorale’s concert series, “Bach, Mozart, & More,” kicks off Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m in the Provincetown Town Hall. The series continues with another show Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. in the Provincetown Town Hall with a final performance at Orleans’ Nauset Middle School on Sunday, June 14 at 3 p.m. The chorale was founded by current conductor and director, Jon Arterton, and has members Cape-wide. Arterton says the Outer Cape Chorale is unique in that all its concerts are offered to the public free of charge. “We make all our concerts free so everyone can hear our music. Meeting House Chamber Music Festival

The Meeting House Chamber Music Festival celebrates its 42nd season this season with seven summer concerts that take place Cape-wide. The season kicks off Sunday, June 21 at 4 p.m. in Falmouth with “Rorem, Ravel & Rags,” and runs through Monday, July 27, concluding with “Romantic Strings.” Director Donald Enos says, “There are a lot of returning members, all very good players, who have good rapport and great musicianship.” In addition to scheduled concerts, there is an opportunity to “Meet the Artist,” cellist Amit Peled, at a concert/ reception event on Friday, July 3, in Orleans. Woods Hole Cantata Consort

Woods Hole Cantata Consort, a non-auditioned choral and chamber orchestra, celebrates its 42nd season with a new director of music, John Dulina. Dulina, an accomplished pianist, organist, and conductor, has performed and conducted across North America and Italy. Sherry Martin, chair of the consort, says, “We are extremely pleased and very fortunate to have found this excellent musician to lead us.” The Woods Hole Cantata Consort performs two concerts, Saturday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 9 at 4 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole. The Vinegrass Organization

The Vinegrass Organization is a young organization making an impact on the Cape music scene. A not-for-profit music production company, Vinegrass promotes an interest in the Americana/Roots genre of music, offering camps, shows, workshops, and the Vinegrass Music Festival, which takes place Sunday, October 4 at Truro Vineyards. The Vinegrass Music Series is underway with a concert scheduled the last Thursday of every month leading up to the festival. Vinegrass and featured musicians also produce workshops and educational programs in local schools. We Are the Men, MVC

We Are the Men, an all male voice choir, brings the Welsh tradition of the male choir to Cape Cod with 35 male singers who sing “an eclectic selection of American and European pieces,” according to Chris Roberts, founder of the group, who hails from Wales. The group performs at Mashpee Congregational Church on Sunday, June 28, singing patriotic tunes. On July 12, the group is at St. Andrews-By-the-Sea in Hyannisport. We Are the Men also performs for fundraisers and community outreach events. The group has opportunities for young soloists to get paid a stipend for singing for their college expenses. Cape Cod Chorale

The Cape Cod Chorale has entertained audiences on the Cape since 1982. The group performs classical and contemporary choral numbers. The chorale is enjoying its first year with a new director, Danica Buckley, who is a seasoned choral director and professor of music. Cape Cod Chorale has two concerts three times a year. This summer, join them in June for the “Summer Delights: Songs of Nature and Classic Pops” series for an eclectic selection of songs, including Broadway numbers and patriotic tunes. The concerts take place Saturday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Parish in Mashpee and Sunday, June 14 at 3 p.m. at First Church of Christ in Sandwich. Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival

The Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival celebrates its 36th anniversary this summer, opening on July 31 and includes 13 concerts, a gala, and a number of other events that will take place Cape-wide through the month of August with a variety of musical styles. The festival’s “Grand Finale” is Friday, August 28. In addition to the concerts, there will be “The Cape Gala” on August 2, located at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod and a picnic on August 24 at the Wellfleet Preservation Hall. Gloriae Dei Cantores

The Gloriae Dei Cantores choir performs choral music from past and present, from Gregorian chants to modern 21st-century works. The choir has performed with Keith Lockhart and John Williams, among other established conductors and performers. Gloriae Dei provides the music for the Church of the Transfiguration, located in Orleans. In addition to those performances, there will be two concerts at the church on Friday and Saturday,  July 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. with a number of guest soloists.
