For the firm’s CFO Floyd Silvia, it’s about more than just designing and building high-quality, custom homes for the firm’s clients.

From meeting with clients at night or on weekends  to accommodate busy schedules, to providing complete home maintenance options—including maid service—with employees on-call 24/7, to picking up clients at the airport, and even getting their groceries, the team at Silvia & Silvia service their customers with concierge-like attention well beyond the usual home design/build process.

“It’s all about the customer,” Silvia says. “Our customers—I know it sounds corny—become like a part of the family,” with some having been part of that family, he says, for 30 years. “We have a clientele that we’re proud of.”

Founded in 1970 by Silvia and his brother, Ronald, the Osterville-based company services Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts, building residential and commercial properties and facilitating each structure through every facet of the process, from financing and permitting, to interior design. The company also has a real estate branch, allowing the firm to market the homes they build.

Ronald Silvia, the company’s president, manages the design and construction of projects, while Floyd oversees the business and financial aspects. “He’s very good at what he does, and I feel I’m very good at what I do,” Floyd says. When it comes to managing finances on a home build, Floyd explains that it’s about much more than just simple budgeting. Excellent accounting skills, paired with knowledge that can only be learned through experience, are crucial in such major undertakings, he says. “When you start borrowing for multi-million-dollar projects,” he explains, “that’s a real specialty.”

When it comes to a Silvia & Silvia home design and build project, what makes the firm’s properties so unique is the quality of “old craftsman workmanship” that goes into each structure, Floyd notes. “Our homes take a little longer to build because of the care devoted to each project,” he says.
