Spa Time With a health club and mineral spring pool as well as a spa, owner Susan Goldstein has created a hub of island wellness at the Mansion House. This island spa is known for its use of “Moshup Mud” in facials and clay wraps. The clay, named for the father of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head, is legally harvested by tribal members for the spa. It is also the key ingredient in the Moshup Mud Wrap ($150, which includes access to the health club, steam room, and pool). Kristy Bergantim, senior spa coordinator, recommends the wrap as a special way to banish the winter cold. A detoxifier, cleanser, and body polish all in one, the treatment “will leave your body hydrated and soft,” Bergantim says.

Spa Time Along with other services offered at Mansion House, including facials, massages, hair removal, and tanning, the spa hosts private parties, where the goal is to “make sure people celebrate,” Goldstein says. Head to the Vineyard with three (minimum of four people) of your closest friends for a special occasion, or just to escape the harsh reality of winter, and enjoy a day filled with luxury to unwind and regroup. If you would rather take a solo trip over to the Island, the three-hour Vineyard Heaven Retreat “can truly give the body the vacation it deserves,” says Goldstein. Beginning with a stress-relieving massage where “the dance between the therapist and you begins” and including a facial and mask, exfoliation, and steam cleansing for your pores, the retreat is a great way to take full advantage of your much-needed solitude.
