Salt, seaweed, shells. It sounds like a day at the beach, but it’s also the Beach Plum formula for the spa’s signature Seaweed Wrap ($250). This lux treatment begins with an organic salt scrub to get rid of dead skin cells. With the skin open and clean, the therapist then applies an all-organic seaweed masque. “It adds wonderful vitamins and minerals and rids your body of toxins,” says Deb Catania, vice president of Catania Hospitality Group, which operates the Beach Plum spas.

A 20-minute session allows the seaweed to penetrate the skin, with soft music and a light ambience in the background to enhance the experience. All the while, the therapist massages the client’s feet and scalp, as Catania says, “to bring you into the most relaxed place you can be.” After a shower to rinse off, it’s back to the table, where you are given a signature hot lava shell massage, where the therapist uses herbal oil and hot lava shells to knead your body into bliss. The result for the client, Catania says, is “de-stressed, detoxed, hydrated, nourished, and totally grounded.”
