Kim Blanc, owner of Intuitive Bodyworks, is a licensed massage therapist and a Reiki master (trained in three levels of this modality of energy work), and also has trained in craniosacral therapy, a gentle massage that works with the spine and skull to ease tension and improve health.

Blanc combines these therapies for unique massages. Just making an appointment for bodywork can start the healing, she says. “I feel the healing begins for people the moment they decide to make an appointment. It gives them something to look forward to and the mind is already preparing the body to relax.”

A session with Blanc begins with the client lying on a heated amethyst mat, a tool that warms the muscles, relaxes the mind, and, Blanc says, “starts the healing” through the work of the crystals. A typical session is a combination of methods, determined by the client and Blanc ($85). “If a muscle is having a hard time letting go, Reiki is an effective and powerful way to help it release,” she adds. “I can work the muscle even better.”

Healing through dual therapies is ideal for gray, cold weather, Blanc says. “We tend to internalize life’s events. Sometimes things get stuck and need help moving through,” she says. “Massage and energy work helps to clear out the heaviness. You can feel lighter of body, clearer of mind, and more at peace. That is the goal.”
