When a New York couple purchased their town house in Provincetown’s coveted West End, it had little personality, let alone style. The partners are in the design industry, one an executive at a leather company, the other an executive at a jewelry company. “They have refined tastes and didn’t want the typical seaside décor,” says Herbert Acevedo, interior designer and owner of Shor Home Furnishings, who was called to design the perfect getaway house for the duo.
The couple were looking for something more sophisticated, more cosmopolitan. They wanted a sophisticated yet relaxed vacation house with warm tones and inviting spaces—a welcoming place that was heavy on style. “They came into the shop one day while heading out of town and handed us the key to their place and said, ‘We want to you decorate our place,’” says Acevedo. “We completely rethought the space.” Acevedo ended up handling the whole project by e-mailing floor plans and pictures and offering suggestions on furnishings and fabrics. The couple had sent Acevedo images of their residence in New York City to help him better understand their tastes and desires.
