Angela Rose |  Angela Rose Gardens

When Angela Rose founded Angela Rose Gardens in Falmouth in 2005, she was on her own with just a pickup truck and a small trailer. Eight years later, Rose requires two crews to keep up with her landscaping projects day in and day out, yet she is right there alongside the dedicated workers on her staff. “I am hands on with all of the jobs, from the designing stages all the way through to the maintenance,” she says.

Sustainable Living by the Sea

Rose—both a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturalist and a Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional—was born and raised in Falmouth where she developed a sense for the importance of sustainability on the Cape. “I have many clients that are concerned with the Cape’s environment. I try to cater to that by choosing plants that work for the coastal location,” says Rose.

When it comes to selecting hardy flora that can survive on the water, Rose has several suggestions. Shrubs—including inkberry, hydrangea, and lilac—and perennials—such as catmint and Russian sage—are all able to withstand damage from salt, wind, and occasional drought. Despite their resiliency, these plants still require some maintenance to ensure that they survive.

When she founded her company, Rose combined her landscaping experience with a passion for art.  “Creating landscapes and gardens is working within a larger palette and scale,” she says. Whether it’s a container garden, custom stonework, or a full landscape installation, the aesthetic quality and longevity of Angela Rose Gardens’ work is superb and continues to please a growing list of clients.
