Karen Pratt-Mills – Supply New England’s Kitchen & Bath Gallery
With showrooms in West Yarmouth, Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard, and other communities on the mainland, Supply New England’s Kitchen and Bath Gallery is the largest heating and plumbing supply company in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The company provides the finest brands in kitchen and bathroom fixtures and accessories, and offers design work and suggestions for clients preparing to renovate.
Designer Karen Pratt-Mills works at the company’s 5,000-square-foot showroom in West Yarmouth. She meets regularly with customers who have been referred by local contractors, and draws up blueprints for their renovation and remodeling ideas. “I enjoy the creative process and making a client’s dream kitchen come to life,” Pratt-Mills says. “I have been designing kitchens on the Cape for over 20 years, and fully understand the scope of projects and can guide people, keep them on track, and make them feel at ease in this overwhelming process.”
Supply New England has played an instrumental role in several recent kitchen renovation projects, and Pratt-Mills shares some of the trends she’s been seeing in the kitchen. “The cottage beach casual look is still very popular on the Cape,” she says. “I am doing a lot of white and off-white Shaker kitchens,” she adds, referring to the simple, functional design of cabinets and doors. “That’s the look in this area,” she says. “Clients want a comfortable, casual gathering space with subtle decorative touches.” For cabinetry options, Supply New England works primarily with manufacturers in the Mid-West, such as Fieldstone, Mouser, and KraftMaid.
Adding to the casual look, Pratt-Mills says, is the farmhouse sink. “They’ve been popular for a number of years,” she says. “It’s a big request. A lot of people in the area like that look.” For sinks and other plumbing supplies and fixtures, Supply New England offers Kohler, Grohe, Rohl, and other quality brands.
Regarding countertops, Supply New England provides customers with a huge variety of choices. There is Silestone, Caesarstone, Zodiaq, and ECOstone as well as natural stone tops in granite, marble, soapstone, and more. “We also offer environmentally-friendly materials,” Pratt-Mills adds, “including cast-iron sinks, and countertops made from recycled materials.”
Supply New England recently worked on a family’s summer home in Orleans. The home is located near the ocean, and the family wanted their kitchen to maintain a nautical theme. “It was a lot of fun to work on due to the fact they were a little daring with their cabinet color selection,” Pratt-Mills says. “They opted for a soft blue finish, wanting to bring in the beach feel since it’s the family’s vacation home.” They also added rope accents to the crown molding and to the island posts. Supply New England provides such personal attention and care to every homeowner’s remodeling project.
