Cupcakes hold a solid edge for many brides, and for good reason. Jenna Graham, former manager of Cupcake Charlie’s in Mashpee and manager of their new location in Newport, Rhode Island, lists cupcakes faster than butter melts in a hot pan. “The advantage of cupcakes is you can have three to five flavors and you can please everybody,” Graham says. “Plus, they’re easy to eat.” Shimmer-sprayed and set in large tiers—up to 200 cupcakes on each arrangement—Graham says the little cakes can have the same “ooh and ah” factor as their bigger counterparts. Most of Cupcake Charlie’s brides opt for a classic light-hued cupcake, but Graham recalls one unusual order by a bride in Dennis. The wedding décor would center on not flowers, but chili peppers. “We matched the bright yellow and green of the peppers and topped them with our regular decorations, some with peanut butter cups,” Graham says.
