Millie’s, a bright, beckoning restaurant on Nantucket’s westernmost Madaket Beach, is named for the crotchety but delightful Millie Jewett, who practically ran Madaket for many years. Primary owner Bo Blair, who also has several eateries in Washington, D.C., has pulled together a winning team and menu for this airy beachside restaurant. Chef David Scribner’s food, laced with local seafood and produce, is simple, fresh, and delicious. Scribner’s style leans toward California Baja; guacamole and chips, $8.95, is excellent, as is the Steps Beach quesadilla, with local lobster, tomatoes, grilled zucchini, and cheese. The Eel Point taco ($18.95) was unexpected and delicious: rare tuna with wasabi crème fraiche and soy glaze. Beautiful views are abundant, including stunning sights of sunset and water from the second-floor main dining room. Other places to loll include two bars, a porch, and picnic tables outside. (There is also a takeout window.) Catch Millie’s while you can—this high season beauty closes soon.
