Don’t-Miss Dining

How can you resist Fleming’s Donut Shack? This business has been making donuts since 1960. When John F. Kennedy won the presidential nomination, the owners sent him a letter of congratulations and a box of doughnuts to his Hyannisport home. Kennedy sent a letter of thanks that is framed and  on display.

Long lines are worth the wait for Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar, a must-stop spot. Arnold’s is known for tasty fried seafood and delicious lobster rolls. After an ice cream for dessert, try Arnold’s  Adventure Mini Golf.

Stop by the Red Barn Pizza and More for a fun family night out. Enjoy a yummy meal and a mini-golf course and arcade.

Point of Interest

Shellfishing is a classic activity on the Outer Cape, and Salt Pond in Eastham is the perfect place to dig in. Quahogs, littlenecks, and steamers are transported to Salt Pond from Cape Cod Bay and are available for harvest. Permits are required and available at the Natural Resources office (508-240-5972) or through the mail. Eastham also has  significant early-American roots as the site of the “first encounter” between the Pilgrims and Indians on First Encounter Beach, and three of the original Mayflower passengers are buried in the Old Cove Cemetery.
