Martha’s Vineyard
Things To Do
Explore nature at the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the Massachusetts Audubon Society. Hike along four miles of trails through woodlands, meadows, ponds, salt marsh, and along shorelines. The sanctuary is a birding hot spot: look for nesting osprey, shorebirds, winter waterfowl, and barn owls.

Visit the Martha’s Vineyard Museum in Edgartown to learn about the island’s past and present. An exhibition through the summer of 2012 explores the tragic stories behind shipwrecks off Martha’s Vineyard’s shores. Mark your calendar with the museum’s outstanding schedule of events. The museum also has stewardship of the Gay Head, East Chop, and Edgartown lighthouses, and offers tours every summer.

Beach It!
Aquinnah Public Beach, also known as Moshup Beach, showcases stunning and colorful cliffs that look artistically sculpted in brown, orange, white, and gray clay. The view of the cliffs from below is impressive, but be sure to also see them from the high point near the Gay Head Lighthouse. Be forewarned: at a certain point on the beach, clothing is considered optional.
