Gannon and Benjamin Marine Railway, Classic Craftsmen
ROSS GANNON: My teen years were spent in Darien, Connecticut. My parents had boats and I lived down the street from a yacht club where I was fortunate enough to get a job as a kid. My junior high school teacher dragged me down there when I was about 13—that was my first opportunity to work on boats. I sailed with friends from Connecticut and we went up to Edgartown when I was about 19, and we spent a few days there and sailed home. I had a friend whose parents owned a house in Oak Bluffs, I came up to visit him, and I ended up moving here a short time later in 1969.
