Cape Cod holds our country’s record for cranberry production, beginning a storied relationship with the berry when the Indians introduced it to the Pilgrims in the early 1600s. Loaded with vitamins and antibacterial properties, cranberries help keep kidneys healthy, contribute to heart health, and may help prevent cancer.
Cranberry bogs and opportunities to celebrate this local favorite are tucked in almost every corner of Cape Cod. One fine way to experience the berry is at the Harwich Cranberry Arts & Music Festival. Events began in July; the festival itself is held September 15–16 in Brooks Park. harwichcranberryfestival.org
