Food for Thought
When owner J.B. Blau couldn’t find good Mexican food on Martha’s Vineyard, his love for traditional and delectable south-of-the-border fare grew into an obsession. In 2005, when the chance to open a restaurant in Oak Bluffs came his way, Blau decided it was a perfect opportunity to bring real Mexican food to the island.
Nachos, margaritas, and burritos are just some of the dishes served at Sharky’s Cantina, all created with traditional Mexican cooking in mind. Fresh ingredients and national recognition set Sharky’s apart from other restaurants on the island. “Our nachos are legendary,” says Blau. “We are one of three restaurants nationwide to receive a 10 out of 10 on nachos according to YummyNachos.com.” Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant is a hit with visitors and locals. A second location opened in Edgartown in 2008 and the original Sharky’s expanded in 2013. One taste of their guacamole and you’ll understand why.
