OATMEAL COOKIES

This recipe is from Far Land Provisions at 150 Bradford Street, Provincetown.

Ingredients

  • ½ pound butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups light brown sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups raisins
  • 3 cups quick oats

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2.  Thoroughly combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Blend together butter and sugars. Quickly add eggs, molasses, and vanilla. Combine the flour and egg mixtures. Add oats and raisins. Scoop dough with a small cookie or ice cream scoop into balls. Chill dough balls well.
  4.  Bake for eight to 12 minutes depending on the size of the cookies. (Chocolate chips may be substituted for raisins.)
