Recipe provided by the Coonamessett Inn, 311 Gifford Street, Falmouth.
- 2 cups milk
- 2 ounces unsalted butter
- 4 ounces sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 eggs
- Boil milk. Mix eggs, sugar and cornstarch together. Temper egg mixture with hot milk, stirring constantly, and bring to a simmer. Whisk in cold butter.
- Refrigerate three hours.
- Spoon cold pastry cream into prepared tart crust and arrange sliced berries on top.
- Serve with fresh whipped cream.
