The Cape Cod Maritime Museum, 135 South Street, Hyannis, features “An Artist’s Voyage: The Maritime Art of John Stobart” through the end of 2017. A native of England, Stobart studied at the prestigious Royal Academy Schools and during his career has developed into one of the world’s pre-eminent maritime painters. In total, the exhibit features 16 of Stobart’s original paintings as well as nine prints, many featuring New England harbor scenes. An opening reception will be held Saturday, July 15, from 3-5 p.m. Admission is $35 per person. The artist will also participate in lectures on Sundays, July 16 and 23. Admission for each day is $50 per person. Stobart will also judge a “Paint out” event, which will be held Friday and Saturday, August 18-19. Coinciding with the exhibit, the museum will provide maritime-themed educational programs to inspire at-risk children and teens, with the goal of enabling entry-level employment at local boatyards and marinas.
