Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Mix molasses, water, shortening and soda; add to flour mixture.
Fold cranberry sauce into batter. Pour into greased mold (1 qt.) and tie waxed paper loosely over top. Place mold on trivet or wire rack in bottom of deep kettle.
Pour in boiling water to half the depth of the mold. Cover and steam 2 hours, replenishing the water if necessary with more boiling water to keep the original level.
Unmold onto serving platter. Serve hot with Easy Vanilla Sauce.
