To the team at AP Kimball Construction, a challenging project is the best kind of project. “We like challenges; we don’t always look for the easiest pathway,” says Peter Kimball, president of the firm. “If there are things that are hard to build, or unique in some way, then that makes it that much more exciting for us.”

After spending 20 years in the high-tech industry doing engineering, marketing, and business development, Kimball moved to the Cape and started his home building and remodeling company with his wife, designer Angela Kimball, in 2003. Having worked side by side for over a decade, Kimball says the couple genuinely enjoy working together, and complement each other well. “A lot of clients like the fact that we’re not necessarily a husband and wife team, but a male-female team,” Kimball says, “so we can get different perspectives from our clients and what they are looking for and trying to achieve.”

The primary focus on the Yarmouthport-based company, says Kimball, is additions and remodeling work. From simple repairs, to working on multi-million-dollar seaside homes, the company offers a wealth of construction-based experience. When it comes to building houses on the Cape, Kimball says he loves every aspect of the industry.

“We have a lot of fun with our clients and the design process,” he says. “We’re challenged to maintain the traditional Cape façade and then couple that with modern-looking interior designs.”

Kimball says the company’s staff strive to understand what each of their clients want in an attempt to ensure their clients’ understanding of every detail of the construction process.

“Whether it’s in the design phase, or pricing, we give detailed information about costs and choices,” Kimball explains. “There are so many products out there. We spend a lot of time helping clients understand product and design choices without being overwhelming.”
