Brian Shortsleeve

President and Publisher
Brian Shortsleeve is the owner, publisher and founder of Cape Cod Life Publications. He grew up vacationing summers at Craigville Beach where he learned to sail when he was 12. During his years at Boston College High School and Holy Cross College, he began successful entrepreneurships in the areas of sailing instruction, sailboat rentals, and school newspaper and student telephone book publishing. After college Brian worked for a national publishing company. In 1979, he combined his love of the Cape and Islands with his interest in publishing by starting Cape Cod LIFE magazine. His personal column “Gunkholing” has appeared in every issue since 1979.



Liz Cooke

Controller/Business Administrator
Liz grew up in Canton, MA and spent every summer at her family home in Pocasset. She graduated summa cum laude from Curry College where she received a degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting. The first ten years of Liz’s career were spent in accounting and private equity firms in Boston. Three years ago Liz relocated to Cape Cod as a full time resident with her two children. After many years as a stay-at-home mom, she is resuming her career at Cape Cod Life Magazine. She loves puzzles, all animals, and new adventures with her kids.

Judy Shortsleeve

Office Manager
Judy Howell Shortsleeve joined Cape Cod Life in 1990 as the business manager. She married Brian Shortsleeve in the summer of 1990 and continued working until the birth of their second son. With both boys in high school, she came back to Cape Cod Life. Judy lives in Bourne with her husband, Brian, and two sons, Joshua and Maxwell. She likes cooking, reading, spending time on the beach and black labs.

Julie Craven Wagner began her experience with Cape Cod Life in 2010 when she joined the sales team after 10 years of working with local business on the Cape and Islands with WMVY. In addition to sales, she has been a contributing writer to Cape Cod LIFE for a number of years and the editor of Cape Cod HOME since 2016. She also serves on the editorial board for Cape Cod ART. Growing up on the Outer Cape has given her a unique perspective of life on Cape Cod, from tip to bridge, and that is reflected in her appreciation and presentation of stories found within the pages of our publications. Julie lives in North Falmouth with her husband, Eric, and their yellow lab, Enzo. When she finds free time, she enjoys her Cape Cod life sailing on Buzzards Bay, spending time on the beach in Wellfleet, or exploring Martha’s Vineyard.

Rachel Walman

Assistant Editor
Rachel Walman is the Assistant Editor at Cape Cod Life. Having lived on the Cape her whole life, she grew up with strong ties to the ocean, villages and back roads, and always knew she wanted to live and work on her home turf. She received her Bachelors in English and Communication from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and her Masters in Public Relations from Boston University. When not writing, she enjoys kayaking and sailing, getting involved in the local theater scene, reading at the beach, and watching Turner Classic Movies.

Editorial Assistant/Digital Coordinator
Christina Galt is the Editorial Assistant/Digital Coordinator for Cape Cod Life Publications. Born and raised on the Cape, Christina has always had a love for the ocean and everything "Cape Cod." She found herself the perfect home away from home at the University of Rhode Island and double majored in Sociology and Gender & Women’s Studies. After graduating, Christina came back to the Cape and started her journey at Cape Cod Life. She spends most of her free time with her family, especially her chocolate lab Sadie, and enjoys spending summers on her family’s boat. 



Amy Duquette

Creative Art Director
Amy Duquette joined the team at Cape Cod Life in 2007 as the Director of Marketing and Events. After a 10-year hiatus, she has returned to the staff in the new role of Creative Art Director. After 30 years of working with local businesses in marketing, sales and graphic design, Amy brings a unique skillset and perspective to the magazines. While Amy has lived on and off Cape Cod since 1976, she has called this beautiful region her home for over 30 years. Having raised three children, she now resides with her husband, Rene, their mini Schnoodle, Rico Suave and Lulu the black cat. Amy is an avid reader, loves baking, collecting recipes, taking long walks on the beach and spending time with her family.

Susan Temple

Senior Designer
Susan Temple joined Cape Cod Life in August of 2020. She grew up in Branford, CT and spent many summer vacations visiting the Cape. Graduating from SUNY Purchase with a BFA set her up with a solid foundation in graphic design. Her first stop was NYC where she worked at publishing and advertising agencies for over ten years. She returned to CT to join an ad agency and worked on many prestigious accounts including Yale New Haven Hospital, SAS Airlines and the Mohegan Sun basketball team. Once the pandemic hit, she and her husband Charlie decided life is short and made their part time Cape home a permanent one. Susan spends her free time sewing, reading on the beach and walking her two corgis, Tulip and Jake.



Josh Shortsleeve

Digital Coordinator/ Photographer
As a born and raised Cape Codder, Josh Shortsleeve grew up boating, sailing, surfing and fishing–participating in pretty much any activity that involved the water. After graduating from Bourne highschool Josh joined the team at Cape Cod Life as a photographer, a passion he shares with his father Brian. Since then, his is roles at Cape Cod Life have expanded to Digital Coordinator. Today, you can find Josh exploring the Cape & islands, specifically Cuttyhunk, with his camera in tow.

Laura Crocker started with Cape Cod Life Publications in 1996 as a marketing coordinator. As Cape Cod Life expanded and started publishing Cape Cod HOME that same year, she joined the sales team. She took a short hiatus in 2005 when her second child was born. After getting her children settled in school, she rejoined the sales staff in 2011. Laura lives in East Falmouth with her husband, son, daughter and their chocolate lab. Her favorite escape is the beach—it’s one of the reasons she loves the Cape so much!
Steve Dewey, Cape Cod Life Publications

Advertising Sales Manager
Steve Dewey joined the sales crew at Cape Cod Life Publications in 2011 and works with businesses in the Mid Cape and on Nantucket. He started coming to the Cape from Worcester at an early age for summers and still vividly remembers the joy of crossing the bridge and "getting here." Steve's previous work experience includes 20 years of business-to-business sales in the Metro Boston area. He and his wife, Susan, editor at Cape Cod Life Publications from 2008 to 2016, are lucky ducks to have two young grandchildren, on the Cape and in Vermont, with one more on the way. Free time is spent chasing the little white ball, helping Susan grow farmers' market vegetables, and enjoying the Red Sox/Pats revelry.

Laura Taylor has the distinction of being a team member at Cape Cod Life Publications since April 1992. Laura truly enjoys helping people with their business challenges and offering connections, ideas and solutions. Establishing business relationships and cultivating long-term friendships are among the pleasures and rewards she appreciates so much. Laura’s fond of saying, “It’s not work if you love it,” and she is grateful for the many Cape Cod Life adventures she’s had the good fortune to enjoy. She also enjoys spending time on as many beaches and back roads as she can find on beautiful Cape Cod.

Alisa Mann

Advertising Sales Manager
Alisa Mann joined the Cape Cod Life Publications sales team in 2020 and works with businesses in the Mid Cape. A native New Yorker, she spent family summer vacations on Cape Cod and has always been drawn to the beauty and history of New England where she graduated from Simmons College and calls Plymouth home. Alisa’s previous work experience includes 20 years of business to business sales within luxury and lifestyle brands across the Northeast. She is passionate about cultivating client relationships, creating customized solutions and providing excellent service allowing her to add value, sales growth and maintain lasting relationships. Free time is spent baking  cycling, traveling and exploring all the scenic beauty that the Cape and Islands has to offer.

David Quigley

Advertising Sales Manager
David Quigley joined the team at Cape Cod Life in 2021. He happily “washed ashore” in 1999, originally a native of the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. He has been a sales professional for most of his life and truly enjoys consulting with businesses to help them reach their goals. In addition to sales, David has owned businesses in Maryland and Texas, giving him insight into the challenges of the small companies on Cape Cod. He is a resident of Dennis Port and enjoys kayaking, shell fishing, and playing tourist here on the Cape in his free time.
