President and Publisher
Brian Shortsleeve is the owner, publisher and founder of Cape Cod Life Publications. He grew up vacationing summers at Craigville Beach where he learned to sail when he was 12. During his years at Boston College High School and Holy Cross College, he began successful entrepreneurships in the areas of sailing instruction, sailboat rentals, and school newspaper and student telephone book publishing. After college Brian worked for a national publishing company. In 1979, he combined his love of the Cape and Islands with his interest in publishing by starting Cape Cod LIFE magazine. His personal column “Gunkholing” has appeared in every issue since 1979.
Liz grew up in Canton, MA and spent every summer at her family home in Pocasset. She graduated summa cum laude from Curry College where she received a degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting. The first ten years of Liz’s career were spent in accounting and private equity firms in Boston. Three years ago Liz relocated to Cape Cod as a full time resident with her two children. After many years as a stay-at-home mom, she is resuming her career at Cape Cod Life Magazine. She loves puzzles, all animals, and new adventures with her kids.
Judy Howell Shortsleeve joined Cape Cod Life in 1990 as the business manager. She married Brian Shortsleeve in the summer of 1990 and continued working until the birth of their second son. With both boys in high school, she came back to Cape Cod Life. Judy lives in Bourne with her husband, Brian, and two sons, Joshua and Maxwell. Julie Craven Wagner
Julie Craven Wagner began her experience with Cape Cod Life in 2010 when she joined the sales team after 10 years of working with local business on the Cape and Islands with WMVY. In addition to sales, she has been a contributing writer to Cape Cod LIFE for a number of years and the editor of Cape Cod HOME since 2016. She also serves on the editorial board for Cape Cod ART. Growing up on the Outer Cape has given her a unique perspective of life on Cape Cod, from tip to bridge, and that is reflected in her appreciation and presentation of stories found within the pages of our publications. Julie lives in North Falmouth with her husband, Eric, and their yellow lab, Enzo. When she finds free time, she enjoys her Cape Cod life sailing on Buzzards Bay, spending time on the beach in Wellfleet, or exploring Martha’s Vineyard.
Rachel Walman is the Assistant Editor at Cape Cod Life. Having lived on the Cape her whole life, she grew up with strong ties to the ocean, villages and back roads, and always knew she wanted to live and work on her home turf. She received her Bachelors in English and Communication from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and her Masters in Public Relations from Boston University. When not writing, she enjoys kayaking and sailing, getting involved in the local theater scene, reading at the beach, and watching Turner Classic Movies.
Christina Galt is the Digital Editor for Cape Cod Life Publications. Born and raised on the Cape, Christina has always had a love for the ocean and everything "Cape Cod." She found herself the perfect home away from home at the University of Rhode Island and double majored in Sociology and Gender & Women’s Studies. After graduating, Christina came back to the Cape and started her journey at Cape Cod Life. She spends most of her free time with her family, especially her chocolate lab Sadie, and enjoys spending summers on her family’s boat.

After 30 years of working with local businesses in marketing, sales and graphic design, Amy brings a unique skillset and perspective to the magazines. While Amy has lived on and off Cape Cod since 1976, she has called this beautiful region her home for over 30 years. Having raised three children, she now resides with her husband, Rene, their mini Schnoodle, Rico Suave and Lulu the black cat. Amy is an avid reader, loves baking, collecting recipes, taking long walks on the beach and spending time with her family.
Susan Temple joined Cape Cod Life in August of 2020. She grew up in Branford, CT and spent many summer vacations visiting the Cape. Graduating from SUNY Purchase with a BFA set her up with a solid foundation in graphic design. Her first stop was NYC where she worked at publishing and advertising agencies for over ten years. She returned to CT to join an ad agency and worked on many prestigious accounts including Yale New Haven Hospital, SAS Airlines and the Mohegan Sun basketball team. Once the pandemic hit, she and her husband Charlie decided life is short and made their part time Cape home a permanent one. Susan spends her free time sewing, reading on the beach and walking her two corgis, Tulip and Jake.
