Spicing up the Mid-Cape
“We’re not a typical Indian restaurant,” says Megha Bodke, owner and Front-of-House Chef of Keshar. “Because of how our chefs studied in culinary school in Mumbai, we’re more creative with flavors.”
Like adding the sharpness of rum to classic dessert gulab jamun—it’s a nice metaphor for the entire dining experience at Keshar, now in its third year of operation in the Aiden by Best Western, in West Yarmouth. It’s also fitting for the Aiden brand that focuses on boutiquey coolness. The open floorplan allows for the pop of colors in the lobby to merge with the white tables and lemon-yellow chairs of the restaurant.

Hotel General Manager Parth Dalwani says, “Keshar is not just a restaurant, it includes our hospitality. We want every part of the guest experience to work together. The restaurant succeeds because of its alignment with the hotel, but it also draws on the appeal of Cape Cod. Together, we hope to be another local charm.”
Keshar’s customer base is largely local. Dalwani says, “To make a good experience for year-round guests, it was important to introduce something unique. To open an Indian restaurant here was a game changer.”
“Most of our business has come through word-of-mouth. People drive all the way down from Truro or Plymouth,” Bodke shares. From the very beginning, Sean Smith—owner of Cape Cod Recommends and Sean Smith Marketing—championed this brand, seeing exceptional leadership from General Manager Dalwani.
It helps that the food is delicious. Our feast began with succulent Tandoori Chicken and Samosa Chaat—a harmony of textures, sweet and sour tamarind, and warm, lingering spices. The Coconut Shrimp delivered a perfect crunch. For the main course, we paired garlic naan with a rich, spicy goat curry; expertly prepared Bhindi Masala (okra with tomato, onion, and peppers); and Malai Kofta—vegetable-and-cheese balls stewed in creamy onion base with a hint of sweetness—the perfect comfort food for a cold winter’s night.
