Alyson Iarrusso has spent nearly two decades of her life committed to a zeal for history. A Masters degree in the field led her to a career in academia, sharing her love and knowledge of civics and history. It’s clear that storytelling has always been at the heart of her work, and so it comes as no surprise then that the other side of her life, her creative passion for jewelry-making, is similarly rooted in a blend of feeling, narrative, and sense of place. Alyson’s brand, Cove Fine Jewelry, became her full-time focus in 2023, and the only time Alyson looks back, is when she’s drawing inspiration for her next piece.

What is it that makes something tradition; what takes a work of art or a piece of jewelry from a beautiful piece to something evocative, treasured, enduring? What elevates a fleeting trend to a necklace passed from mother to daughter or the beloved bracelet worn by a grandmother at every family holiday? For Alyson, the difference lies in the memories and history a piece carries. The most treasured works become vessels for something greater than themselves—woven into the fabric of people’s lives as markers of milestones, expressions of identity, symbols of connection, and keepers of stories.

Allyson Plessner is a former editorial intern for Cape Cod Life and now works for the publication as a staff writer and digital media coordinator. Born in Florida, Allyson has been a lifelong summer resident of the Cape. She is a recent alumna of the College of Charleston, located in Charleston, South Carolina, where she completed bachelor’s degrees in both English and Spanish. In her free time, Allyson is an avid sailor, beach-goer, and—like her fellow Cape Cod Life colleagues—a dog-lover.
