Everyone has a dream house. Perhaps you imagine a rose-covered Cape with a white picket fence. Maybe your dream is built around a soaring, seaside contemporary, all glass and wide open vistas. The home of one Centerville couple’s dreams evolved over years of living in different parts of the country, where they refined their vision around one particular kind of house.
The couple’s living experiences included several years in two Cape Cod homes, including in a 1940’s architect designed house with an adjacent cottage in Osterville, where their family frequently came to savor days beside a tidal river, sweetened by a spectacular wildflower meadow they installed and nurtured.

As their family grew to include grandchildren, it quickly became apparent that this particular “dream house” no longer fit the needs of many visiting family members, who had to pass through the homeowners’ office space on their way to the kitchen and laundry. Also, the couple began to envision a time when they would again be able to live on the Cape year round.
“We would drive past properties all over Barnstable and see if a different place would work better for us,” says the homeowner, explaining that her husband grew up summering in Ostervile. “We loved the mid-Cape for its proximity to Boston and also for all the haunts we always enjoyed!”
