A trip to Martha’s Vineyard in 2004 to tackle some electrical work for a colleague prompted David Smith, owner of DASECO Electrical, LLC to open his Cape and Islands business.

“I just fell in love with Martha’s Vineyard. The Cape and Islands have some of the most beautiful architecture and residential construction in the world. It’s a wonderful place to be,” says Smith.

At the time, Smith says, there was a limited amount of skilled labor and few electrical contractors in the area. He knew he would be able to find work.

He decided to open DASECO Electrical, LLC and since then the company has expanded significantly. “We now have an office on Martha’s Vineyard, and in 2012 created a generator division on the Cape,” he says.

Over the past nearly dozen years since the firm’s opening, there has been a great amount of change in the industry.

Today, DASECO is providing a wide range of services from putting in standard wall outlets, to wiring smart homes that can be managed from cell phones, to installing generators.

“Technology has had an enormous impact in the electrical contracting field and there have been significant changes in 12 short years,” says Smith. “It’s really amazing to see so many exciting developments.”
