Planning the wedding of your dreams on Cape Cod? These two idyllic inns, voted tops in our annual “Best of” survey, offer the perfect venue.
The Popponesset Inn offers brides and grooms a true oceanfront experience on their big day. Located in the resort community of The Club at New Seabury in Mashpee, the Popponesset Inn—a.k.a. the “Poppy”—is sited literally steps away from the water on a private beach. The inn boasts an expansive tented deck, where couples can exchange vows overlooking Nantucket Sound, then celebrate with a reception for up to 200 guests.
Julie Quintero-Schulz, director of marketing for the Popponesset Inn, says the venue is ideal for laid-back couples looking to have a romantic beach wedding. “The Poppy is iconic—it’s been here for over 70 years,” she notes, “and it’s just a fun outdoor experience.”
While there are no accommodations at the inn itself, on-site are 25 cottages and condos available for wedding parties to rent. Couples and their guests staying on the property have access to a number of amenities, including a new athletic club, golf, two pools and five restaurants.
At the Dennis Inn, couples have the luxury of treating the historic home as their own private estate throughout their wedding weekend. “We explain to the bride and groom that it’s your canvas to paint as you want for the weekend,” says owner Mark Flanagan. From cocktails by the pool the night before, to a ceremony under the arbor surrounded by a sea of hydrangeas, to yoga classes on the front lawn the day after, Flanagan says couples can truly make their wedding experience their own at the Dennis Inn.
Located in the village of Dennis, the inn offers a newly remodeled, three-bedroom Bridal Suite, where up to eight people can stay the night before or the night of the wedding. The inn also provides its own event coordinator at no additional charge, and Treats Catering is the exclusive caterer. “Our food gets rave reviews,” Flanagan says, including their pan-seared scallops and lobster rolls.
The Dennis Inn can accommodate up to 250 people for outdoor receptions, held under a grand tent on the front lawn, and 100 people for indoor weddings in the banquet room.
