Helping Others Be Her’d
Megan Murphy’s Project Her’d amplifies the voices of women across the Cape.
Megan Murphy is no stranger to the power of storytelling. As the creator of the Kindness Rocks Project, Murphy built a national movement that inspires others through uplifting messages painted on rocks. Her project is founded on the principle that one message, at just the right moment in time, can change someone’s entire day, outlook and life. Her newest project, Project Her’d, does not shy away from building off the Kindness Rocks mission. Specifically, this program seeks to inspire women showing them that through the art of storytelling, they can create lasting and meaningful friendships.
Her’d is not simply a project, but rather a community that centers around listening, learning and lifting others up. Before Her’d was first established, Murphy longed for stronger relationships with other women that went beyond making small talk in the aisle of the grocery store or chatting with other mothers on the sidelines of sports matches. Murphy created Her’d to bring together women across all walks of life who similarly desired deeper connections. All are welcomed to engage in Her’d, whether or not they are ready to share their own stories. Participants are invited to speak about their own lived experiences or simply engage in others’ anecdotes.
The project started in 2018, when initially, Murphy rented barn space on Route 6A where she held meetings with 20 to 25 women. She would host one-off events quarterly throughout the year. Appreciation quickly blossomed for Her’d, with attendance levels growing and consistent positive feedback.
