A Neighborhood Store For Everyone
Celebrating 30 years in business, Village Trading Company is much more than just a gift shop tucked into the village of Cataumet, it’s a meeting place, a neighborhood fixture, and a shopping destination where customers know they’ll always find something beautiful and thoughtful every time they walk through the door.
Owner Mark Bergeron reflects on the people who make it all possible, “It all hinges on locals. They carry a store like mine,” adding, “I have a wonderful staff that contribute to making it a friendly and inviting atmosphere. We want everyone to feel welcome and have a pleasant experience while they’re here.”

The feeling of gratitude for customers and that items have been thoughtfully curated are evident the moment someone steps inside Village Trading Company. They carry a comprehensive collection of goods that range from popular national brands like Simon Pearce, Mariposa, and Nora Fleming to handcrafted pieces from local artisans. Just like Cape Cod itself, the store shifts with each season, decorated with new charming displays and items that make each visit new and unexpected.
The store feels less like a generic retail space and more like a place that belongs to the community. In many ways, Bergeron says, the store has become his second home, and he cares for it accordingly. The bright and clean modern space is filled with natural light that invites you to walk through the aisles (and back) just in case you missed something.
That friendly, welcoming feeling will have you wandering throughout the shop stopping to look at everything from beautiful jewelry to stylish home décor and luxurious bath and body items. And in a digital world, Village Trading Co.’s extensive selection of greeting cards is a nice reminder that taking the time to choose a card, write a heartfelt note, and share it with someone still goes a long way in maintaining personal connections. The end result is a shopping experience that feels relaxed and enjoyable rather than rushed.
The talent for making memorable shopping experiences doesn’t end at Village Trading Company; Mark and his wife Sherry also own Brewster’s popular Village Toy Store, together, the two shops are favorite destinations for fans of the popular Jellycat plush collector toys.
