In the April/May issue of Cape Cod LIFE I suggested some picture-perfect destinations. My son Joshua loves to explore the Cape and Islands with his camera to capture vistas and perspectives that may go unnoticed or taken for granted. He recently discovered a unique shot in Provincetown that many may not be aware of.

Off of Route 6, there is a small parking area on the shoulder as you approach the exits into town. This particular parking area allows you to access what is known as the Dune Shack Trail that leads through the Province Lands to the historic dune shacks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. As you make your way from your car, through the heavy sand, to the top of the hill where the Atlantic stretches out in front of you, if you turn around and look in the direction from which you came, you can see Cape Cod Bay and the end of the arm of Cape Cod as Provincetown curls in on itself. Joshua’s photos have captured both of these views that you are able to enjoy from one spot. It is like seeing the whole world in 360 degrees.

There are many places across the Cape like this one in the Cape Cod National Seashore, where visitors are able to park, venture in and take in the view. Maybe there are places that you find, where stopping and capturing a great photo is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for the Cape and Islands.
