Marsha Malone and the staff at Brewster’s Nautique Cape Cod have provided homeowners with quintessential, coastal interior design and home furnishing services for more than a decade. Nautique’s designs can be found in seaside homes on Cape Cod, and in the residences of many customers with year-round homes over the bridge.

Malone has built a considerable reputation for delivering classic coastal interiors with a colorful whimsical twist, providing a wide palette of services with imaginative design themes. She also frequently acts a general contractor for Nautique’s interior design projects with a list of experienced professionals, who work with Malone every step of the way.

Malone laughs describing one completed project that she “quarterbacked” from start to finish for a lucky couple recently (photos opposite), even though the homeowners were living at the other end of the Eastern Seaboard in Florida. “We provide many of our customers with full services remotely,” says Malone.

“This couple came to the Cape—they had never been here before—and were just smitten. They bought a house in New Seabury just like that and asked their realtor to recommend a designer.” Malone says 99 percent of the communication with the new customer was done by text and email. Nautique hired all the subcontractors, including carpenters, electricians, floor installers, painters, and wallpaperers.

Nautique also provided many of the furnishings from the company’s exclusive Sail Loft and Coastal lines of furnishings, which are designed and manufactured in Nautique’s workshops. “The couple just love the house,” says Malone “The original home was lovely, but very formal, and they wanted their home to reflect the Cape’s beautiful, coastal environment. Every customer, and every project, is different, which is why I love what I do!”
