A New “Leash” on Life

People often say, “The best things in life are often unexpected,” and for Sue Teplansky, this couldn’t be more true.

From her early career as television producer working on shows for household names like famed chef and author Julia Child to eventually taking on the role of stay-at-home Mom to her three boys, Sue’s life has been full of happy twist and turns. Eventually, as her sons got a bit older, she found herself “being the Mom with a camera.” Whether it was sports or theater, Sue was always in the dugout or backstage capturing the moments that make life precious. “It was a great opportunity to meet parents and people in the community while capturing memories for the family,” shares Sue, who later transitioned into senior and family portraits, weddings, and events— “It just ended up being a business based around community connections.” 

“Chloe, a yellow lab, was my first shoot and I was really nervous. At the time, her parents didn’t know Chloe was deaf, and we couldn’t understand why she wasn’t responding to any commands. I went with the flow, capturing plenty of active shots. It wasn’t until the session ended, as I was putting away my equipment, that I felt a quiet whisper urging me to turn around. And there she was—finally still, beautifully glowing in the sunset. I grabbed my gear and captured this truly magical moment. This session taught me a lot about staying in the present moment—that really is where the magic lives.”
