Staying Connected: High Tech Services with Personal Support

Helping clients stay up to speed with the newest and most secure technologies is Gregory and Elizabeth Cincotta’s business, but both believe the key to their success lies in something simple, more personal, and very old school.

“It comes down to treating people the way you want to be treated,” Beth says with a broad smile and shrug.

Before they made the choice to open Coastline Technologies, Greg was working for what he calls large, impersonal companies. He often found himself faced with the dilemma of “constantly pushing clients into solutions and products they didn’t need,” for the sake of profit.

“I always thought to myself, there’s got to be a way for an MSP (Managed Services Provider) to grow organically,” Greg says. “But to do it in a way that shows we’re in the client’s camp. Do what’s best for them, in their best interest.”

In college, Greg studied computer science and engineering. “I’ve been into tech for as long as I can remember. I was building computers for my family and friends while in middle school,” he says laughing.

After school, he decided to put his wide range of technical skills to use, working in various IT roles until starting Coastline Technologies in 2015.

Beth, who has been in marketing for years, only recently decided to “take the next step” for herself and the family business – leaving her career in the advertising industry and bringing her expertise and talent home.

“I come at things from a completely different perspective than Greg who lives and breathes all the tech stuff,” she says. “Technology can be confusing and intimidating. I’m an end user. I’ve had experiences with other IT companies that talk all the jargon and expect you to know what they’re saying. That’s just not realistic. We want to make sure our IT support is top quality, accessible, and simplified.”

To that end, Greg says he and his team not only complete technical training, but customer service training as well.

“We participate in trainings, so our entire staff has the tools to talk to our clients without all of the tech jargon that makes their eyes glaze over. Our goal is to explain things in a way that makes sense to them, without intimidating them or making them feel uncomfortable.”

At the heart of everything they do, “what really makes us shine,” according to Greg, is the attention to detail that the team takes when helping to support clients.

Clients of Coastline Technologies range from small businesses who need help managing their point-of-sale systems, to larger enterprises with multiple locations and complex technical infrastructures.

Coastline offers managed IT services, cybersecurity tools and consulting, data backup and disaster recovery, phone services, and more.

“We work with a tiny retail store that has two computers, and we work with one of the largest seafood companies in the region with hundreds of different kinds of devices,” Greg says.

“One of our clients on Nantucket was a complete and total mess when we first took over managing their technology, and that’s putting it mildly,” Greg says. “Now, almost every time they call in to our help desk for support, they mention how much they love us. That feels good. That’s why we do what we do.”
