Cape Cod has long been considered a family-friendly destination, and for good reason. This classic New England vacation spot features over 550 miles of stunning coastline, several iconic lighthouses, a 25-mile-long bike trail, and great food for even the pickiest eaters. Whether you’re in the mood to play a few rounds of mini golf, embark on a nature hike, or simply relax at the beach and indulge in a waffle cone ice cream afterwards, the Cape delivers. Here’s my guide to making the most of your family time on Cape Cod whether you are visiting or looking for a new adventure in your own backyard.

Things to Do Beyond the Beach 

While Cape Cod’s beaches are legendary, there’s a whole world of family fun waiting just off the sand. Start your adventure with a round of mini golf at Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf in South Yarmouth. It’s practically a rite of passage on a family vacation. At Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, you can choose between the Captain’s Course or Blackbeard’s Course, or, if the kids have the energy (they will), try both. Expect waterfalls, pirate ships, plenty of photo ops along the way, and a pirate hat when you complete the course! 

For a more serene escape, head to Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich. Spanning over 100 acres of stunning trees, shrubs, exquisite flowers, there will be enough to keep children entertained, and adults in awe of this peaceful gem on the Cape.
