Bayside offers styles and brands for any budget

The design and installation professionals at Bayside Kitchen and Bath Center in Falmouth work with homeowners, architects, and builders to achieve their design goals, and Bayside’s staff can accommodate any need when it comes to kitchens and baths. The company offers superior product lines and takes pride in tailoring to any budget, large or small.

For the kitchen, Bayside offers products by Franke, a brand well known for its award-winning steel faucets. Customers can choose from single-handled gooseneck or double-handled bridge faucets in stainless steel, nickel, or polished chrome. Bayside also offers fixtures from manufacturers like Symmons, which offers kitchen, bar sink, and laundry sink styles and products; and Delta, with its various styles of easy-to-use “touch” faucets. One of the goals of Botello’s Main Street showroom is to make customers feel at home. Entering the 10,000 square-foot showroom—located at Botello Home Center in Mashpee—visitors are warmly greeted by a member of the company’s design team. These experienced professionals can guide homeowners and do-it-yourselfers through any design or remodeling project and offer suggestions on available brands and styles of fixtures for both kitchen and bath.

For kitchens, Botello offers many lines and styles of faucets, including offerings from Waterstone that are handcrafted in the USA. These fixtures come in styles ranging from the classic pull-down and bridge faucets, to more eccentric options such as the gantry and the wheel, which features a five-spoked wheel that resembles a captain’s helm. The faucets are available in most any finish, from antique pewter to polished nickel or American bronze.

For the bath, Botello designer Christine Granfield says one popular trend has homeowners conceptualizing a “universal design,” or making every aspect of the bathroom accessible to all. “Universal design is for everyone,” Granfield says. “It means that the interior design of a bath is consistent, including the hardware.” This design style includes grab bars for stability, wider doors, and showers without thresholds—and Botello’s staff can customize any bath with these features.

According to Granfield, one feature that sometimes gets overlooked until the very end of a project is the hardware, such as the knobs on the vanity or kitchen drawers. These pieces can add a nice finishing touch to any room, and Botello offers all styles and designs of hardware customers can see and touch in-house. “The hardware is the jewelry of your kitchen or bath,” she says, adding that Botello can match sink fixtures with hardware to suit any taste. “We offer any line or brand there is.”

Combining classic looks with contemporary styles

Classic Kitchens & Interiors of Hyannis has been helping homeowners through the design process since 1979. Whether it’s a single cabinet replacement, or an entire kitchen or bath, Classic Kitchens’ design team works with homeowners to help them create the kitchens of their dreams.

Rebecca Brown, the company’s design manager, offers her expertise to help determine the perfect design to fit any taste. “The styles today are leading toward more contemporary,” says Brown. “Homeowners here on the Cape will always like that classic Cape Cod design, with marble and subway tiles for the kitchen and bath, but the trend seems to be leading toward contemporary, with some people getting more daring with color.”

In its 4,500 square foot showroom in Hyannis, Classic Kitchens offers quartz countertops, a more contemporary option that still has elements of traditional style. “Quartz countertops are increasing in popularity,” Brown says. “Most clients are choosing quartz to mimic the look of marble and limit the maintenance.”

In the world of tile, Brown says customers have been opting for glass, with more and more homeowners choosing an iridescent, mother of pearl look, for both the kitchen and bath as accents. “You see the backsplash before you see the countertops,” says Brown, adding that this is a factor that should be considered when designing a kitchen. For bathrooms, she says rain showers and multiple showerheads are popular, as are walk-in showers without thresholds and rectangular bathroom sinks.

Test out the waters—at Frank Webb’s Bath Center

The showrooms at Frank Webb’s Bath Center in Hyannis and Falmouth are more than just a collection of products and hardware; they are places where kitchens and baths come to life, where homeowners can see how a multitude of faucets, showerheads, and components look and function. Customers can get an authentic sense of how the water will run when installed in their home, such as the feel of the water from a rain faucet showerhead, or the way a designer faucet cascades water into the sink at different settings. “People like to come in and test them and play with them,” says Julie Borjeson, the company’s Hyannis showroom manager.

Now in its 150th year, Frank Webb’s Bath Center has evolved and grown over the years, and today the company numbers more than 80 locations across the region. Borjeson says the company is the largest plumbing distributor in the Northeast and boasts a 400,000 square foot distribution center in Londonderry, New Hampshire. “You want it?,” Borjeson says, “We’ve got it.”

Frank Webb’s offers Moen hands-free kitchen faucets and hardware in any finish, from stainless steel to polished chrome. Other brands offered include Maax and Symmons. Farm sinks continue to be one of the company’s best sellers, often outfitted with a bridge faucet and available in various finishes. While stainless steel is a top selling finish, Borjeson says polished chrome is gaining in popularity. “We love the chrome,” she says.

For the bath, Frank Webb’s offers a variety of shower steam units, including a working unit in-house that features a steam mist set up. These units are popular, Borjeson says, and create a “spa-like” atmosphere in the comfort of the home.

A showcase of quality Kohler products

The staff at Supply New England’s Kitchen & Bath Gallery in West Yarmouth aims to provide its customers with a perfect balance of style, creativity, and practicality as they design their kitchen or bath. “We focus on the gallery aspect of the design process,” says Robin Decoteau, one of the company’s designers. “Our pride and joy is that we’re the only company that has Kohler Signature stores in the New England area.” According to Decoteau, the company boasts the largest Kohler showroom on Cape Cod, featuring many Kohler product lines designed to allow homeowners to create their kitchen or bath with simplicity, including the Artifacts faucet and accessory collection, inspired by turn-of-the-century charm.

For bathrooms, Kohler’s Choreograph line is a complete shower wall and accessory collection; customers can design every aspect of their shower, from wall panels to shower shelving and grips. “The wall paneling is a relatively new option for people who may not necessarily want tile,” Decoteau says. Best-selling products for the kitchen include the original Shaw’s farm sink by Rohl, with a stainless steel gooseneck spout and pull-out sprayer. Decoteau adds that many of today’s builders and homeowners are choosing fixtures finished with shiny chrome. The company also offers the high-end Kallista line of decorative kitchen and bath plumbing products, featuring inspired designs from some of the best in the industry.

Regarding flooring, Decoteau says a popular trend is the use of tile that looks like wood, and Supply New England’s Kitchen & Bath Gallery has a wide selection of styles and colors from which to choose.

Company offers a behind-the-scenes look at cabinet-making

Family owned for more than a quarter century, Kitchen Creations of West Yarmouth custom designs and builds all its cabinetry in house. Customers are invited to tour the company’s warehouse to view designers and builders in action as they put together attractive cabinetry from start to finish. “This is what sells us,” says Mike Devoe, one of the company’s designers. “Guys love tools, so there’s a real wow factor when they see the shop.”

On the tour, one can view a computer screen showing blueprint images, which are then sent to a cutting table where the wood for the cabinets awaits. After the wood is cut, a machine fits strips of siding onto the trimmed pieces, which are sent to the paint room where catalyzed paint is sprayed on with industrial precision. “Everyone who works here is an expert at what they do,” says Devoe.

Kitchen Creations’ best-selling cabinets come with Shaker doors or modified Shaker doors, in shades of white. The staff uses paint-grade wood, which is free of heavy grain patterns and therefore accepts the paint easily. Maple is used for a majority of the cabinetry, though additional woods such as cherry, black walnut, and pine are also used. The cabinetry offers full-extension, soft-close drawers, with solid wood dovetail joints.

Kitchen Creations also sells granite and quartz countertops, and the company has access to countless fixture brands and styles. Devoe and shop foreman Philip Harron work with customers to choose the perfect styles for their kitchens.

Consult with many experts under a single roof

For many years Mark Bogosian envisioned a showroom with a team of designers, architects, contractors, and plumbers all working under one roof—and capable of taking homeowners’ designs for kitchens, bathrooms, or an entire home, from concept to finish. “I’ve been doing this since I was a kid,” Bogosian says. “I’ve always enjoyed working in creating different spaces. I started with painting and moved on to remodeling.”

Bogosian’s company, Longfellow Design Build, continues to expand, having opened two new showrooms in the past year—one in Chatham, another in Osterville. Between these facilities and the company’s original showroom in Falmouth, customers can find the same quality expertise. In each showroom, a team of designers works closely with customers to help them choose the right kitchen and bath fixtures and styles, from manufacturers including Ferguson, Grohe, Toto, and Kohler. “We have the resources at our fingertips,” Bogosian says.

One of the company’s specialties is designing outdoor showers with just the right fixtures and enclosures. Saundra White, an executive assistant for the company, says customers often choose cedar or other woods for the enclosures to match the shingles on their home. The fixtures are often selected for their durability and practicality.

Whatever the building or remodeling need, Bogosian says customers are sure to find good ideas and products in Longfellow’s showrooms. “We work very hard,” he says. “We travel to different conferences around the country to bring quality products that will withstand the Cape Cod elements.”

Specialty customer service and Cape-themed hardware

From a new kitchen or bath to an entire home, Mid-Cape Home Centers can design everything to fit customers’ tastes and budgets.

Visiting the company’s showroom in South Dennis, homeowners can meet with the showroom’s coordinator, Pamela Speciale, who will qualify them with a designer. “What that means is I help them in the showroom,” Speciale says, “from their designs to their budget, so that when I assign a designer, that designer will already know the direction that the homeowner is going in. They can just jump in and be creative.”

For kitchens, Mid-Cape Home Centers’ customers can choose virtually any line of faucets, including Danze, Grohe, and Delta. Product manager Ronda Ciocca says that customers can choose faucets in finishes such as stainless steel or chrome, or “timeless” brushed nickel.

All brands of faucetry are also available for the bath. Speciale says many customers have been installing shower grab bars, one component that fits within the concept of universal design. “They’re for everyone,” Speciale says of the bars, “not just for children or elderly.”

And to dress up the final product, the company’s staff lends its expertise in choosing decorative knobs, racks, and other accessories. “We have terrific hardware,” Ciocca says, including products by Modern Objects, a Connecticut manufacturer that makes knobs featuring oysters, seahorses, and other sea creatures for the bathroom vanity. “We like to offer that Cape Cod coastal feel,” Ciocca says. “You can just browse in our showroom and get ideas, or you can come here and design your whole kitchen. We have the resources to fully design anything.”
