Care You Can Count On: Upper Cape Pet Services
For owner Lisa Schott, Upper Cape Pet Services (UCPS) is more than a business, it’s a family. Like a family, it continues to evolve and grow and as the matriarch, she is the proud shepherd, caregiver and cheerleader.
Now in their eighth year—a remarkable milestone, and a testament to their consistency and heart—they are steadily expanding their concierge services to mirror the heartfelt dedication they have not only to four-legged friends, but also the immediate community and beyond. More than a grooming salon, it’s become a cornerstone for pet owners where familiar faces are always waiting to help.
From its inception, UCPS set out to provide exceptional grooming services, and they do: with several groomers who tout over a decade of experience and a credo of doing the right thing by each pet they work with—breed-specific care, coat maintenance, temperament and health/age considerations are all part of their thoughtful, professional approach. That same level of dedication begins with manager Lindsey and assistant manager Thalia bringing genuine care and commitment to both clients and staff. Working together, the company has evolved into three thriving divisions with over 20 employees.
Schott’s commitment to her customers is boundless. For their loyal pet-sitting clients, they have expanded their concierge services to include exclusive perks you won’t find anywhere else. Even more notably, they now offer end-of-life support in partnership with a trusted local veterinarian who provides in-home services. Schott observed that so many of her customers were struggling and unsure where to turn with their questions and their heartbreak during this difficult time. This partnership feels like a natural progression, given the close relationships they form with their clients over time—like Olaf, pictured with Schott above, a handsome white shepherd who was beloved by the entire team and in their care until his peaceful passing. This final, loving gift speaks volumes about the compassion that resides at the core of their business.
As they expanded, Schott even introduced a luxury cat resort so feline companions can enjoy the experience too. Complete with mounted TVs, intricate cat trees, filtered water, and angled stainless-steel bowls, the clean, private, secure space is full of charm. The UCPS team is skilled in managing a wide range of medical needs and can administer medications—even involved treatments like insulin injections or thyroid care. Clients feel confident leaving their cats for extended stays knowing they’ll receive daily human interaction.

A woman-owned, women-run business, UCPS is deeply committed to the local community around them and beyond. Schott reflects, “It feels good to know we are really helping people.” For her and her team, that comes in many forms such as mentoring young employees, and having a special place in her heart for local youth athletics and educational sponsorships. But beyond the doors, Schott is working with organizations like Sunny Paws Rescue here on Cape Cod and alongside the Street Dog Guardians organization to help leverage the adoption process in an effort to save as many dogs as possible from the streets of Puerto Rico. It’s a reflection of their mission that is at the core, rooted in advocacy and care.
There’s a warmth here, a culture of mutual respect and professionalism that can’t be manufactured or faked. It’s built through years of trust, compassion, and a shared love for animals. It’s this environment that has allowed Upper Cape Pet Services to not just succeed, but to expand and thrive.
