Joan Peters of Osterville

Since 1989, Joan Peters has become a recognizable representation of the Cape’s seaside communities. Showcasing her exquisite artistry and design talent, Joan Peters of Osterville exclusively carries her fabrics, wallpapers, and hand-painted furnishings. In the 1980s, Peters was working as an artist and interior designer and could not find fabrics with white backgrounds. She began to craft her own, launching with the Osterville Flowers print. Her patterns continue to reflect the Cape and Islands’ quaint culture, featuring hydrangeas, the Nantucket basket, and more. The iconic toile fabrics have become best sellers, adorning homes across the globe. The toile patterns, including the Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Boston Toiles, are available for custom orders in any color, and all have matching wallpapers. The Cape Cod Toile, a crowd favorite, elegantly features Cape Cod landmarks and emanates the local culture in a mystical manner. Joan Peters herself does all of the artwork for her fabrics, which are hand-screened in New England. The traditional style of her fabrics and wallpapers is perfect in any New England coastal home, whether you fancy a bedspread, pillow, or draperies. Stop by the shop to admire her fabric and original paintings, all works of marine-inspired art. And, be sure to keep an eye out for her new design, the New England Toile, expected to start selling this year.
