HAMCO Flagpoles has been the Cape & Islands premier flagpole dealer and installer for almost 50 years.


Larry Hamilton retired to Chatham and instead of settling in and enjoying his newfound free time, he began to notice how many flagpoles around town were in need of painting and restoration, and a new business venture was born. Hamilton realized fiberglass poles would be the best material for durability and longevity and over the years, he planted thousands of new flagpoles around town. Hamilton, affectionately known as Ham, worked tirelessly and kept meticulous hand-written records, detailing the date of installation, size and any specifications until his eventual (second) retirement. The business is now in the capable hands of Cape Cod natives Andrew and Megan Nugnes, and HAMCO Flagpoles and Flags is thriving and grown beyond what Hamilton could have ever anticipated.
Both former teachers, the couple fully realize the legacy of the company and importance of their work. A member of NIFDA (National Independent Flag Dealers Association), they have signed an oath to represent only dealers, manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and supporters of American-made flags; and further to that, they primarily deal only with New England-based companies. “The gold ball finials that sit at the top of the pole are from Connecticut, the line is made in Rhode Island and the fiberglass poles are handcrafted in New Hampshire.” states Megan Nugnes proudly. The flags they sell are by Annin Flagmakers, the oldest and largest flag manufacturer in the United States, whose flag, incidentally, is the one which flies on the moon.
