This issue of Cape Cod Life, “July“ is devoted largely to cover the dining business on the Cape & Islands. Restaurants are a large segment of our local economy enjoyed immensely by the Cape Cod LIFE readers, as well as everyone in my immediate and extended family.
The impact of COVID on the Cape Cod restaurant industry has brought about many changes, both in ownership and operations. One of my favorites restaurants over the years has been Alberto’s Ristorante in Hyannis. Within the last 12 months, Felis Barreiro the owner of Alberto’s Ristorante, has sold his interest to a former employee, Darko Ristovski. I hope Darko has the kind of success Felis has experienced for years.
Felis started working in the restaurant business in Hyannis in the early 80’s. He began Alberto’s Ristorante on April 1st, 1988. I was living in Cataumet at that time and made many visits to Hyannis. Judy would go shopping in Hyannis and we would meet for dinner at Alberto’s Ristorante. Sometimes we would go together to Alberto’s Ristorante for dinner and then to the Cape Cod Melody Tent, just up the street.
To celebrate the birth of our first son at Cape Cod Hospital, we ordered takeout from Alberto’s Ristorante to enjoy a quiet, last meal together.
