CCH: Talk about how your background began in the design industry and how it led you both to where you are today.

JR: We both started in the industry quite accidentally many, many years ago. A friend of mine worked for a tile showroom and The Boston Design Center and was looking for help. Knowing nothing at the time about tile, but coincidentally unhappy in my job, I went on an interview and the rest—as they say—is history! That was thirty-seven years ago, and I still love doing this. 

KH: I had a different career as well that was pretty emotionally taxing. I had two young children, and I was spending three hours a day commuting. I started working for the same tile showroom but on the operations end of the business and very quickly fell in love with the industry and made the shift to a career in tile.
