Meet some new faces taking on the local art scene, and be sure to remember their names.

Every year we cover incredibly gifted artists from across the region in the pages of Cape Cod ART—sculptors and mosaic artists, oil painters and watercolorists. And among all of this breathtaking talent, are perhaps the most exciting members of the local artistic community: the undiscovered, untamed, and unstoppable talent that we refer to as “emerging artists.”

One of the questions often asked of an established artist or gallerist is what advice they would give to someone just starting out their career—someone younger or perhaps someone who found their artistic calling later in life. The answer is almost always some iteration of “Make sure you love what you do; be confident in that.” Luckily, a purposeful passion for art—in all its many forms and with all its many wonderful surprises—is something that the emerging artists covered each year in Cape Cod ART all, unwaveringly, have in common.

Year after year we are impressed, stunned, and mesmerized by the unyielding dedication and colorful outlooks that these artists bring to their craft, and we are reminded that there is perhaps nothing more special than having the honor of witnessing an artist in the early years of their career. Decades from now, readers will hopefully remember the day they read about one of these young talents, recall fondly the moments that they first learned about Brooke Catania or Lily Keller, first saw an Instagram post by Chatham Ivy (as technology undoubtedly becomes an invaluable asset for the modern artist), or clicked at the bottom of this page and saw a captivating piece by Jason Pritchard. These moments and these names will be remembered, because they are surely here to stay.

So, without further ado, we are ecstatic to introduce this year’s emerging artists. From charming watercolors to striking portraits, there is certainly no lack for creativity among this group. We hope that one day, you’ll see these names again—profiled again in the pages of Cape Cod ART, highlighted in local galleries and beyond, and making a difference in the best, most vibrant way they know how: through art.  – Allyson Plessner
