Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies

  • 1/2 lb. Butter softened
  • 1-1/2 cups Light brown sugar
  • 1-1/4 cups Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Molasses
  • 1-1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1-1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 cups Raisins
  • 3 cups Unbleached flour


  • Preheat oven to 375° F.
  • Thoroughly combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Blend together butter and sugars. Quickly add eggs, molasses, and vanilla. Combine the flour and egg mixtures. Add oats and raisins. Scoop dough with a small cookie or ice cream scoop into balls. Chill dough balls well.
  • Bake for eight to 12 minutes depending on the size of the cookies. (Chocolate chips may be substituted for raisins.)
