Founded in 1933, Walpole Outdoors has spent nearly a century perfecting its craft of building unique, beautiful and long-lasting outdoor fencing, gates, pergolas and other products. With three locations on Cape Cod, Walpole Outdoors has established a reputation for excellence.

From its inception, Walpole Outdoors has been an innovator in the outdoor market. In the early 20th century, the company soared to success due to their pioneering use of thick cedar wood, which was unpopular with other companies at the time but offered superior rot resistance compared to alternatives. More recently, Walpole added proprietary solid cellular PVC – a material that promises a wood-like feel but never rots.

Walpole offers a wide range of prefabricated products online and at their showrooms across Cape Cod. All products are handcrafted in its Maine warehouse, ensuring stringent quality control. “We decided early on to try to make things better, not necessarily cheaper,” explains Mark Bushway, Director of Sales at Walpole Outdoors.

Walpole Outdoors also completes custom projects utilizing in-house engineers to design and manufacture the perfect outdoor solution. One of their recent popular offerings are pergolas with an integrated shade to protect from the elements.

Custom projects begin with a consultant visiting the location, followed by the creation of computer-aided design (CAD) drawings for the proposed work. These CAD drawings allow Walpole to utilize a computer-generated routing machine that cuts precision parts with consistency and ease.

“We have a lot more control and efficiency than other companies, which allows us to do things that others simply don’t have the machinery to do,” says Bushway.

Beyond residential projects, examples of Walpole’s work can be found on the rolling lawns of Chatham Bars Inn, the outdoor seating at Hyannis Port Golf Club, and the outdoor dining space at Farm Neck Golf Club on Martha’s Vineyard.

“It’s a great opportunity for Walpole to partner with these prestigious properties who could choose anyone to work with, but they choose to work with Walpole because of our capability and our reputation for quality,” Bushway adds.
