With the season of warmer weather and outdoor barbeques in full swing, an outdoor patio is a must-have for many Cape vacationers and residents. The clients of Sudbury Design Group (SDG), a premier landscaping company with projects across the Cape, can be counted among these ranks as those with some of the best outdoor spaces in New England.  

Sudbury has been operating for over 60 years, starting their reign in 1959. With locations in Sudbury and Osterville, the company stretches its reach across the Commonwealth and services residential homes and businesses around New England. 

Many homes landscaped by SDG are well-known for their large and luminous pergolas and outdoor archways that create welcoming gathering places for families and friends. One of the company’s most recent projects is a Chatham home which features a large stone and stainless-steel outdoor kitchen sitting beneath a white pergola with a retractable awning.

“It’s a pretty substantial kitchen,” says Mike Coutu, founder and president of Sudbury Design Group, “and an awning is great with an outdoor kitchen because it serves the dual purpose of keeping debris out while also providing shelter.”

Coutu says pergolas are also a great solution for lighting since they provide a space to mount the kitchen’s lights;functioning the way a ceiling would in an indoor space. 

“Outdoor kitchens can be difficult to light regarding workspace and counter spaces where people are sitting. We can provide options that will enhance the outdoor dining experience.”
